In May 2015, New Jersey released a statewide Substance Abuse Overview covering substance abuse admissions in 2013. Among other data, it revealed there were a total of 65,553 treatment admissions and 62,525 discharges reported to the Department of Human Services.

It also revealed the following about the level of care offered:

You can see that there is a wide range of care available, which means that you have a high likelihood of finding a programs whose approach appeals to you and is effective at breaking the pattern of addiction that has taken over your life.

Treatment Statistics: Age at Admission and Gender

Incidentally, 68 percent of individuals admitted are male and only 32 percent are female. One of the reasons forwarded for the low numbers of women in treatment is that they often have a familial role that doesn’t allow them to take time away to get treatment.
